The Dairy Freeze....

A Couple's Journey into Resturant Life has come to an end.......

We have decided to sell The Dairy Freeze.....this journey has come to an end and a new one will begin shortly.  The Dairy Freeze has been a BIG learning experience for both Curtis and I, we have both enjoyed all of our cutomers who came in.  It had became a game of when someone pull up to see how fast we could get their drink on the counter waiting on them.  The smiles of the ones who we knew what they wanted and have it waiting on them was priceless. Those who came in on a regular basis we thank you for your loyalty it is deeply appreciated.  The ones who drove a long distance to eat with us thank you for taking the time to drive in and thank you for bringing your friends and family.  Curtis and I hope that each person who came in The Dairy Freeze felt like they were family and welcome.  To the kids, we will miss each one of you, you brought us many many smiles and when you came in you became one of our own.  When our day wasn't going so good, and you walked in with a smile and would be shy telling us what you wanted (even if we knew what you wanted already) you would giggle and blurt it out and hide behind your mother, father, etc...it made our day better.  Some of you will remember us trying to teach you how to count change, we hope that is something that you will remember.

To all of our nieces and nephews and cousins who worked there, thank you so very much for allowing us to be your first job!  Each one of you did a great job and I wouldn't trade any day that you worked for anything!    Thank you for working so hard!

To my sister-in laws and brother-in laws; you were great for working and working hard, that I will never forget!  You would come in at the last minute and never once acted like you were put out.  Thank you for listening to me and letting me vent!  You saved my sanity!  Thank you for the many times when we were unexpectantly overrun you stepped in put an apron on and went to work. Thank you!  Those nights I might have ran out the back door if you hadn't stepped in.

Thank you Doyle for being our go-to person when something broke or wasn't working you saved us more times than you know!  You are a great person and a true artist in your work!

Thank you Billy Clark for dropping everything and came running when our ice machine decided not to work, or when something decided to quit working right in the middle of everything!  Thank you for being there when we needed you!

So many people helped us these last 2 years so if I have forgotten anyone just know that we appreciated everything that was done to help.

With that being said...my blog about The Dairy Freeze will end.  Thank you for reading it and letting me vent, cry and laugh on here.  This couples journey into the resturant life has come to an end.....

The Dog Days of Summer

To give and update on The Dairy Freeze;  we are putter her back together but it is a slow process due to the extreme heat we are experiencing right now.  But ever so slowly she is coming back together.  The Dairy Freeze will look different in the dinning room, but will be clean and new!  Hopefully mother nature will not tear it up after we are done, but you never know.  So for now it is slow and steady....

Update. . .

Not a whole lot to update on except we had to let The Dairy Freeze dry out real well!  The roof is on, it is a white roof and supposed to be cooler, and really I can tell a difference when I walk in.  There is no electric so that means no air...and it isn't too bad in there.  That will be a good thing once we get insulation back up and things put back into place.  Maybe that will make the electricity bill cheaper, not that I was complaining really for all we have to do in there our utilities are cheap.

This week I think we have people coming in to start to put it all back...so we will see.  It will be a slow process I think but it will be nice when it is all put together again.  Please be patient with us because we want to put it back together right and not just half way.

So like before if you pass by just honk to say hi!

Disaster in a small rural Oklahoma town....

What is hail?

hail: noun
1. showery precipitation in the form of irregular pellets or balls of ice more than 1 / 5 in. (5 mm) in diameter, falling from a cumulonimbus cloud ( distinguished from sleet).

Sounds harmless right?  Hardly...

The storm that was to go north of us but decided to turn suddenly and take it's rath out on Grandfield and The Dairy Freeze.  The Dairy Freeze suffered major damage, we lost our roof and then the water poured in.

The next one will show how strong the winds were....
So, today is being spent waiting on our phones to ring with news from our insurance agents.  Hopefully we will know more by tomorrow.  But the wonderful thing in all of this that no one was hurt and we still have all of our loved ones to hold tight.

Please keep the people of Grandfield in your thoughts and prayers for it will be many weeks before it all returns to normal.  Our little town has all pulled together and helped each other as much as we can.
